Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra on Saturday (May 9, 2026) inspected the ongoing development works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at Duvvada Railway Station. The inspection focused on the progress of the new Foot Over Bridge (FOB), platform upgrades, and the construction of the main station building.
During the visit, Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), East Coast Railway, member Kanchumurthi Eswar submitted a formal representation to the DRM outlining critical passenger needs. Key demands included increasing the halt time for Visakhapatnam-originating trains from two minutes to five minutes and providing a halt for the Vande Bharat Express operating between Visakhapatnam and Secunderabad.
The representation also sought the provision of escalators and the construction of three additional platforms (No. 5, 6, and 7) to accommodate growing traffic.
Meanwhile, the Duvvada Railway Users Association marked the 13th day of passenger service, which began on April 27, 2026. The association’s senior citizens have been distributing free chilled drinking water to travellers in general coaches and have so far distributed a total of 2,424 bottles.
