Student competitions

Engaging activities, including Villu Paattu, science magic show, bulletin board presentation, and dances were held to showcase the talent of students during the ‘Cognito 2026’ competitions organised by the Episteme Science Club of Jamal Mohamed College of Teacher Education recently. Principal G. Chandrakumar distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.

Recognition for academic

M. Murali, vice-principal and associate professor of Chemistry, National College, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), United Kingdom. The recognition is awarded to accomplished scientists who have demonstrated sustained excellence in research, education, innovation, scientific leadership, and service to global chemical sciences community. Mr. Murali is a researcher in bioinorganic chemistry, biomimetic catalysis, medicinal inorganic chemistry, and metal-based anti-cancer agents.

Seminar on SDG challenges

Scholars and practitioners exchanged insights at a seminar on achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) organised by the P.G. and Research Department of Economics of Jamal Mohamed College recently. Research papers were peer-reviewed and published in a special issue of the Jamal Academic Research Journal. The formal launch of the online edition, edited by principal D.I. George Amalarethinam, was held on May 25. The special issue features 25 scholarly contributions, offering a comprehensive data-driven perspective on global sustainability.

Farewell programme

AVC College, Mayiladuthurai, honoured retired professors and staff members at a farewell function recently. Justice K. Venkataraman, judge-administrator of AVC Educational Institutions and former judge of the Madras High Court, presented mementoes to the retirees. Justice Venkataraman said that the true achievement of a teacher lay not in the positions held, but in the students shaped by them. He said the retiring professors had left an indelible mark on generations of students through their dedication to education, discipline, and human values.
