The DMK on Thursday staged demonstrations against the Delimitation Bill by hoisting black flags and burning copies of the Bill in Thoothukudi district.
A special session of Parliament began on Thursday, and the Bill related to delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies was introduced.
Opposition parties, including DMK and Congress, have strongly opposed the Bill. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin registered his party’s protest by hoisting a black flag and burning a copy of the Bill.
Following his call, DMK functionaries in the district staged demonstrations. The protest led by Minister Geetha Jeevan witnessed the participation of Congress State vice-president APCV Shanmugam and other party members.
In Kanniyakumari district, the protest was led by Dairy Development Minister Mano Thangaraj. A large number of party cadre partcipated in the protest held at Azhagiyamandapam..
Similar protests were also held at other places in both districts.
