The Malkajgiri Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and restrictions at Uppal for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
As per the advisory, moderate to heavy traffic congestion is expected from noon till midnight on routes leading towards the stadium, particularly between Nagole and Habsiguda via Uppal junction, and from Boduppal to Amberpet via Uppal junction and Ramanthapur.
Police said heavy vehicles, including lorries, dumpers, trucks, water tankers, tippers, private buses, tractors and earthmovers, will be diverted away from Uppal and surrounding stretches to ease congestion caused by spectator movement and ongoing elevated corridor works at Uppal Junction.
Vehicles travelling from Ghatkesar towards Uppal will be diverted at the HMDA Bhagayath entrance near Mehfil Hotel towards Nagole and L.B. Nagar. Heavy vehicles approaching Uppal from L.B. Nagar will be redirected at Nagole Metro Station towards Boduppal and Chengicherla.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Tarnaka and Ramanthapur towards Uppal will be diverted through Habsiguda, Nacharam and Cherlapally routes. Traffic police also advised vehicles travelling between Hyderabad and Warangal to use the Outer Ring Road via Abdullapurmet and Ghatkesar to avoid congestion near Uppal.
Police said regular diversions are already in place at Uppal junction owing to the elevated corridor construction works.
Authorities identified five major parking areas for spectators attending the match. Four parking locations have been arranged outside the stadium for the general public, while parking inside the stadium premises will be restricted to VVIP, VIP and authorised pass holders entering through Gate 1A.
Spectators approaching from Habsiguda side have been advised to use the Penguin Parking and TGIALA parking areas near the stadium. Those arriving from Ghatkesar, L.B. Nagar and Amberpet have been directed to use designated open parking spaces near Agarwal and Modern Bakers after taking diversions towards Ramanthapur.
The police urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel through Uppal during match hours and encouraged the use of public transport, including RTC buses and Metro Rail services, to reduce congestion. Further traffic regulation measures may be implemented depending on the rush and ground situation, police said.
