Distribution of sweets as part of celebrations of TVK president C. Joseph Vijay sworn-in Chief Minister on Sunday turned into a scuffle with a drunk man picking a quarrel with the ruling party cadre at Alamarathupatti. According to police, a group of TVK cadre, led by the party functionary Guru Ramachandran, was distributing sweets. One Kasirajan @ Suresh, who was drunk, also took the sweet from them. Later, he started to quarrel with them questioning whether the ruling party would give compensation to him for his dead goat. Even as the cadre tried to explain to him, Suresh started to quarrel with them and it turned for the worse when he started to hit them. In the ensuing melee, three of the cadre got bruises. Sivakasi East police have booked Suresh on charges of assault.
