Several prominent leaders and workers of the Janathipathya Samrakshana Samiti (JSS) in Kollam have resigned from the party to join the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). The mass defection was led by JSS Kollam district secretary Sudhakaran Pallath and State executive member Kulakkada Rajendran. State and district office-bearers of the JSS youth wing, Janathipathya Yuva Samiti (JYS), as well as various constituency-level leaders joined the party. During a press conference held at the Kollam Press Club, IUML district president Naushad Yunus said that the JSS leaders chose to join the Muslim League because they were deeply attracted to the party’s steadfast secular positions and its commitment to development activities. The leadership also hinted that more workers from various levels of the JSS would be joining the IUML in the coming days.
