1. DMK to boycott June 8 INDIA bloc meeting over Congress ‘betrayal’

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) announced today (June 4, 2026) that it will boycott the upcoming meeting of the INDIA bloc parties, scheduled to be held at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on June 8.

In a strongly-worded statement, the DMK noted that the decision was taken to honour the sentiments of its cadres, who remain deeply hurt by the “betrayal” committed by the Congress following the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

2. Hard disks at TNPDCL stolen

Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat, Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar said several hard disks had been reported missing from Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) headquarters last month.

Following a preliminary departmental vigilance inquiry that confirmed the theft of storage devices, a complaint was lodged with the police. He said the process of backing up data related to tenders issued over the past five years, coal contracts, and contract employee-related records stored in computers had commenced. 

3. First Cabinet meeting of TVK-led Tamil Nadu government

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will chair the first Cabinet meeting of his government at the Secretariat in Chennai tomorrow (June 5, 2026) at 11 a.m.

During the meeting, the new government is expected to discuss and take decisions on several key issues, particularly related to the functioning of Tasmac and industries and investment promotion.

4. Udhayanidhi Stalin urges CM Vijay to block surrender of 152 super-specialty medical seats

Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has written to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, urging his immediate intervention to prevent 152 vacant super-specialty medical seats from being surrendered to the All-India Quota (AIQ).

He alleged that this situation arose because the current TVK-led government failed to present proper arguments before the Supreme Court recently. 

5. Haven’t received any resignation letter from Annamalai: Nainar Nagenthran

Days after BJP former State president K. Annamalai met the party’s national leadership to convey his decision to exit the party, BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran said he had not received any resignation letter from Mr. Annamalai.

Asked about reports that Mr. Annamalai would soon float his own political outfit after resigning from the BJP, Mr. Nagenthran told journalists at his residence in Palayamkottai that the former BJP State president had not [publicly] said anything in this connection.

6. State govt. signs ₹18,600-crore investment pact with L&T

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tamil Nadu government and Larsen & Toubro Limited, in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, at the Secretariat in Chennai on Thursday (June 4, 2026), for implementing three projects involving an investment of ₹18,600 crore and generating employment for 8,200 persons.
