Stressing on the need for community participation in combating drug abuse, Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan said that those who are looking for de-addiction help can approach government health authorities confidentially.

Speaking while flagging off an anti-drug walkathon organised by Father Muller Group of Institutions in the city on Wednesday, Mr. Darshan asked youth and other people to be vigilant and report drug-related activities to the police without hesitation, thereby contributing to the vision of a stronger and safer India.

Many students, teachers and staff members of the institutions took part in the walkathon held under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative.

The walkathon commenced from the Father Muller campus at Kankanady, moved through the main gates towards Karavali Circle, and continued along the Pumpwell Road, and re-entered the campus through the Father Muller Convention Centre gates before culminating at the Father Muller Grounds.

The procession was held to send a message against substance abuse and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society. It featured a tableau and a dedicated anti-drug awareness vehicle carrying messages and slogans, adding visual impact to the campaign.

The winners of the reel-making promo competition and slogan competition were awarded during the concluding ceremony.
