Man arrested in Chhattisgarh for brutally assaulting wife
Shubhomoy Sikdar · 2026-06-20 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested for brutally assaulting his wife in Chhattisgarh’s Korea district on June 14.

It is alleged that he tied the woman’s limbs, partially disrobed her, shaved her head, blackened the face, and forced her to drink their son’s urine over a purported extramarital affair. A footage of the shocking incident has surfaced online.

All four of the couple’s children, aged between 17 and 10, reportedly watched the assault, even as one of their daughters shot the video.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Korea) Suresha Chaubey said that during the probe, it emerged that the woman had left her husband and children to live with another man in a different area. On the day of the incident, she was visiting a friend in the neighbourhood in the same locality where her husband lives. Upon learning of her visit, he reached there and attacked her.

“There he tied my limbs. After that he cut my hair and put engine oil on me. After that he shaved my head with a blade. He forced children to urinate on me and even made me drink urine…. he punched and kicked me and even threatened to kill me,” the victim told journalists on Thursday.

Case registered

An FIR was registered initially a day after the incident under sections 85 (cruelty by husband or relatives), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 296 (obscene acts) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

However, after the video surfaced on social media, the police added section 123 of the BNS, 2023, for causing hurt by means of poison. It is punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment, said Ms. Chaubey.

The woman is learnt to have told the police that after he used to assault her after she underwent a sterilisation surgery. She also alleged that her husband was having an affair.
