A body of a man was found floating in Aliyar reservoir on Sunday (May 31, 2026). According to the police, the corpse was found in the reservoir, opposite to a meditation and yoga centre on Pollachi – Valparai Road. The police identified the deceased as M. Pradeep (35) of Thoppampatti near Coimbatore.
The Aliyar police, quoting the family members of the deceased, said that he had attempted to end his life before. He had suffered losses in online trading and real estate business, the police said. The body was shifted to the Government Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
In another incident, a 17-year-old boy from Ramanathapuram in Coimbatore drowned while bathing in a river at Ambarampalayam within the limits of the Anamalai police station on Saturday (May 30, 2026).
