






















From May 1, auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers in Maharashtra will have to know basic Marathi, as the State government rolls out a new language requirement aimed at improving communication with passengers and promoting Marathi in daily life. Drivers will be tested on their ability to read, write and speak the language, and those who fail may face cancellation of their licences.
