Fruit Research Centre in Sangareddy distributes nearly 2 lakh saplings every year to farmers as part of efforts to promote rich horticulture harvest.
At the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Centre, Sangareddy District Horticulture officer P. Someshwar Rao said that mangoes are cultivated in approximately 16,000 acres in the district.
Horticulture and Sericulture Department Director Shaik Yasmeen Basha, who was the chief guest of the celebrations, urged farmers to utilise the government schemes to increase extent of the crops.
The celebrations coincided with Mango Diversity Show. Farmers from the Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet participated.
