Over 190 youth receive appointment letters at Visakhapatn...
2026-05-23 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

As many as 190 newly recruited youth received formal induction letters into various Central government ministries and public sector undertakings at the regional chapter of the 19th National Rozgar Mela, held at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam campus in Gambheeram on Saturday (May 23, 2026).

Organised locally by the Railways, the recruitment drive saw local candidates being inducted into essential establishments, including the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Posts, the Indian Navy, and the Food Corporation of India.

The regional distribution coincided with a central virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters across 47 locations nationwide via video conferencing.

Highlighting his recent diplomatic tour spanning five countries, the Prime Minister detailed strategic bilateral agreements aimed at securing international employment pipelines and technical exposure for Indian youth. He noted that partnerships ranging from semiconductor manufacturing with the Netherlands to artificial intelligence collaborations with Sweden are designed to position the domestic workforce at the forefront of global technological growth over the next 25 years.

During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted substantial national investments geared toward creating permanent employment sectors. He pointed out that a ₹75,000 crore capital allocation is currently fortifying India’s domestic shipbuilding, ship-repair, and aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul ecosystems. He added that the Production Linked Incentive scheme has successfully localised electronics value chains, driving record manufacturing employment across Tier-2 and Tier-3 urban clusters.

The Visakhapatnam event was chaired by Waltair Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra and IIM-Visakhapatnam Director M. Chandra Shekhar.

Addressing the fresh recruits, senior officials emphasised that entering public service at this juncture offers a unique opportunity to participate directly in the country’s modern infrastructure expansion. They urged the candidates to leverage digital workflows and maintain an empathetic approach toward citizen-centric administration.

The Prime Minister called upon the fresh inductees to look beyond routine administrative tasks and actively facilitate the country’s “Ease of Doing Business” priorities. Highlighting the collective national goal of achieving a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, he urged the new government employees to commit to institutional adaptability and continuous learning. He encouraged the appointees to utilise digital training resources, specifically the iGOT Karmayogi platform and the Karmayogi Prarambh module, to stay aligned with the evolving technological requirements of modern public administration.
