Private sector lender Bandhan Bank on Tuesday reported around 68 per cent year-on-year increase in its net profit to ₹534.14 crore for the fourth quarter last fiscal, on the back of around 46 per cent y-o-y fall in provisions as asset quality improved during the period.

The Kolkata-headquartered bank’s net profit for the fourth quarter of FY25 stood at ₹317.90 crore.

Its operating profit for the fourth quarter last fiscal saw a decline of 8.28 per cent year-on-year at ₹1,441.16 crore, according to a stock exchange filing. During the quarter under review, the lender’s net interest income (NII) rose 1.43 per cent y-o-y at ₹2,795.59 crore from ₹2,756.19 crore for the same period a year ago. Non-interest income witnessed a healthy growth of 10.16 per cent y-o-y at ₹770.69 crore.

“This quarter marked an improvement across many key parameters, reflecting strengthening fundamentals across our core businesses. We saw encouraging momentum build through the quarter, underpinned by discipline execution and a stark focus on balance sheet quality,” Bandhan Bank MD & CEO Partha Pratim Sengupta said after declaring the results.

During Q4FY26, the lender’s advances and deposits grew 12.6 per cent and 10 per cent year-on-year, respectively. Net interest margin (NIM) for the period stood at 6.2 per cent, registering a 46 basis points decline y-o-y.

Provisions fell to ₹677.01 crore from ₹1,260.16 crore during the year-ago period as the bank witnessed a fall in slippages and an improvement in recovery from bad loans. During Q4FY26, fresh slippages were at around ₹1,030 crore compared to ₹1,750 crore in Q4FY25. For the third quarter last fiscal, fresh slippages stood at ₹1,310 crore. For the Emerging Entrepreneur Business segment (erstwhile microloan segment), slippage reduced to ₹690 crore during the quarter compared to ₹942 crore in Q3FY26.

Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio fell 44 bps to 3.27 per cent during the quarter from 4.71 per cent in the year-ago period. Net NPA ratio declined 31 bps at 0.97 per cent compared to 1.28 per cent in Q4FY25.

“We said that exit FY27, we should have a NIM of 6.46 per cent on the total assets, which roughly would be around 6.4 per cent of the total advances,” said Rajeev Mantri, Chief Financial Officer, Bandhan Bank.
