Lenny Joseph scored Haiti’s first goal in 52 years in the FIFA World Cup during the Group C game against Morocco at the Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday.
Joseph, who was born in France to a Haitian father and a Congolese mother, was called up to the Haiti national team in 2026.
The 25-year-old who plays in Hungarian first division side Ferencváros.
Haiti, which made its return to the World Cup since 1974, is already knocked out of contention for the knockouts.
The only previous goal-scorer for Haiti was Emmanuel Sanon, who struck twice, including a historic goal against Italy. Italy hadn’t conceded a goal in 19 games before Sanon scored past Azzurri goalkeeper Dino Zoff.
