Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid is a young Qatari winger taking his first steps onto the footballing scene. Currently at Al-Duhail, the nineteen-year-old has just had his breakthrough season in the recently concluded Qatar Stars League, featuring fourteen times and scoring once.

While only four out of the fourteen appearances were starts, it is a significant amount of playing time for a team that finished fifth in the league. He has also played four times for the Qatar senior team.

Tahsin was born and brought up in Qatar, but his parents are originally Keralites. As a result, the nineteen-year-old is still an Indian citizen, thus making him the first Indian passport holder to be called up for a FIFA World Cup.

This is since he holds a special Qatari mission passport, a document allowing foreign-born athletes to represent Qatar in international competitions without needing to relinquish their original passport. 

The nineteen-year-old is a right-footer who has been deployed on both wings by Al-Duhail. Arguably the youngster’s best attribute is his pace, which allows him to be an asset for both club and country on the counter-attack. Some of his best goals for the Qatar youth teams have originated from quick counterattacks down his wing. His pace also makes him effective while pressing defenders.

While he does likely have a high ceiling, he is not the complete product yet. He is prone to the occasional touch going too far away from his feet, or erring in his final third decision-making.

With the quality in the Qatar attacking lineup, with the likes of talisman Akram Afif, captain Hassan al-Haydos, and Tahsin’s club teammate Almoez Ali, a starting spot seems unlikely. However, his pace and energy will likely make him an asset that head coach Julen Lopetegui could bring on off the bench to change the game.
