North Korea’s Song Kuk Hyang clinched three gold medals and established new records in the Clean & Jerk category at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships at the Mahatma Mandir Exhibition Hall in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Competing in the women’s 69kg category, Hyang dominated with a 112kg Snatch and a sensational 151kg Clean & Jerk, registering a winning total of 263kg. Her Clean & Jerk tally was a new IWF World Record and Asian Record.

Chinese Taipei’s Chen Wen-Huei secured overall silver with a total lift of 239kg (104kg Snatch and 135kg Clean & Jerk), while Japan’s Miyagoe Yui claimed bronze with a combined effort of 219kg (94kg Snatch and 125kg Clean & Jerk).

India’s Harjinder Kaur delivered a commendable performance in front of the home crowd, finishing fourth overall with a total of 217kg, narrowly missing the podium.

She successfully lifted 96kg in Snatch and 121kg in Clean & Jerk.
