Brazil will take on Scotland in Miami on Wednesday in the final round of the Group C at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side needs just one point to assure itself a place in the knockouts. Scotland has three points currently and needs to win to safely qualify and not rely on the third-placed route.
However, the game is under the threat of getting delayed due to adverse weather conditions. Roughly three hours before the kickoff time of 6:00 pm local time, Miami was experiencing heavy rainfall.
According to AccuWeather, the Miami weather forecast is: “Partial sunshine with a couple of thunderstorms late this afternoon; lightning from nearby storms may impact the soccer match.”
This won’t be the first game to be impacted by bad weather. The Group I game between France and Senegal was also suspended for 130 minutes due to rain in Philadelphia.
According to the safety guidelines, a match will only be temporarily suspended if there is a threat of lightning within an eight-mile radius. If there are reports of such strikes, the match will be stopped and only resumed after a span of 30 minutes has passed from the last reported lightning.
If the weather does not permit the game to be completed on Wednesday, it will be postponed to Thursday.
