Aston Villa beat German side Freiburg 3-0 on Wednesday to win its first European title since 1982. For Unai Emery, this was the fifth Europa League title.

The last time Emery won the title was in 2021, with Villarreal. The Spanish side had defeated Manchester United on penalties. With it, Emery went past Giovanni Trapattoni, who had won three times - twice with Juventus and once with Inter Milan.

But Emery built his legacy at Sevilla, a club he led to three consecutive Europa League titles from 2014 to 2016.

In 2014, Emery led Sevilla to its third Europa League triumph. The Spanish side beat Benfica 4-2 on penalties.

Sevilla and Unai Emery made it two in a row in 2015. The side lost just once in 15 games and clinched the title with a 3-2 victory over Ukrainian side Dnipro in the final.

Sevilla entered the 2015/16 Europa League from the Round of 16, having dropped down from the Champions League. But it reached the final after a challenging run and beat Liverpool 3-1 in the title decider.

Emery had the chance to add another title to his haul in 2019 with Arsenal. However, Chelsea overpowered the Gunners 4-1 to hand Emery his first loss in a Europa League final.
