Suryakumar Yadav walked in for the toss for Mumbai Indians against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday.
The regular Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, who had also missed last match due to an injury, continued to remain unavailable for this game. Pandya wasn’t spotted in the warmups ahead of the toss as well.
Pandya reportedly had a back spasm last game and a call on his availability was to be taken before the game. The all-rounder had joined the team late in Raipur.
“Hardik has not been cleared by the medical team to take the field,” MI said in a release.
There were doubts regarding Suryakumar’s availability as well as he became a father a couple of days ago. However, the Indian T20I captain joined the MI squad earlier today and made himself available.
MI is currently at the ninth spot with just three wins in 10 matches. Even though it isn’t officially eliminated from the playoffs race, but the campaign is hanging by a thread.
