Indian teenager Rounak Chouhan produced the biggest win of his career, stunning top seed and World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-17, 26-24 to reach the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Yonex US Open 2026 on Thursday.

The 18-year-old registered his first victory over a top-10 opponent, ending the veteran shuttler’s campaign in the Round of 16 with a fearless display.

Rounak recovered from 15-17 down in the opening game, reeling off six of the final seven points to take the opener 21-17.

In the second game, Chou, a former World Tour Finals champion, raced to a 17-11 lead and later held four game points. However, Rounak stayed composed, saving all four before edging a tense finish 26-24 to complete one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

Rounak will next face Israel’s Misha Zilberman in the quarterfinals.
