Manchester United defender Harry Maguire claimed that he had been left out of the England squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 and expressed his shock at the decision.
“I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision,” the 33-year-old posted on X.
“I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years. I wish the players, all the best this summer,” he added.
Tuhchel will name the 26-man squad for the global tournament on Friday and has reportedly begun making calls to players the previous day.
The centre-back had played a crucial role in England’s run to two consecutive World Cup semifinals and the final of the European Championship in 2020. After being left out of the team for most of Tuchel’s rein, the defender made his way back during the previous international break.
Chelsea defended Levi Colwill, who has just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, has reportedly been selected in Maguire’s place.
