Algeria opened its FIFA World Cup against Argentina in their FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage match in Kansas, USA, on Tuesday.
While the players walked out of the tunnel at the Kansas City Stadium, fans were left confused about one particular player walking out to play wearing a mask.
Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane is the player wearing a black face mask in the FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Argentina.
In April 2026, during Granada’s match against Almería, Luca Zidane was involved in a horror collision, suffering a chin and jaw fracture, leaving him doubtful for the World Cup.
After months of recovery, however, he was deemed fit to play, but with precaution: the mask. As a result, the 28-year-old was seen wearing a black face gear.
