Austria player Stefan Posch is lining up against Argentina in a Group J match in Dallas on Monday.

The FSV Mainz 05 defender, who suffered a broken jaw in Austria’s opening game against Jordan, was seen wearing strapping around his head which served as a chin guard.

England defender Djed Spence was also seen sporting a similar protective gear in the World Cup game against Croatia.

Players have worn face masks in the past as well to allow them to play without discomfort. Luka Modric, Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic of Croatia are among the players who have used a mask to help them with injuries.
