South Africa stunned South Korea 1-0 at the Estadio Monterrey on Wednesday to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32.
Thapelo Maseko scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute before Bafana Bafana held on to seal three points and finish second in the group.
South Africa, which is playing in its fourth World Cup, made it past the group stages for the first time to spark jubilant celebrations.
Korea finished third with its chances of progression hanging by a thread. Korea is currently placed fourth in the best third-placed teams with three points and will need a series of results going its way to achieve qualification.
