India’s Pooja Singh produced a record-breaking performance in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.93m to win gold at the Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships in Hong Kong on Friday.
The effort helped Pooja erase Sahana Kumari’s long-standing national record, which had stood for 14 years, and gave India one of its standout moments of the championship.

A 48-member Indian contingent, comprising 30 men and 18 women, is competing at the Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships, which is being held from May 28 to 31.
