    Until then, good night!

  • RCB vs LSG, IPL 2026: Bowlers dominate to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru go top of the table

RCB vs LSG, IPL 2026: Bowlers dominate to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru go top of the table

RCB's bowlers shine in IPL 2026, defeating LSG and securing the top spot on the table.

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru wins by five wickets

A chase that dragged along for a while, and then ended in a flurry of boundaries and wickets. Setting off in pursuit of 147, Virat Kohli led with class again, clipping away a host of boundaries in the first six overs to eat into the bulk of the total with his 49.

Once the field went back, things slowed down for a bit, but Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma all-but sealed the result with five boundaries in a row. They later fell in the same over for a late wobble, but Tim David and Romario Shepherd did enough to get their side over the line.

An NRR boosting win for RCB, more concerns for LSG to take away for tonight. Its batting failed once again on a wicket where 160-170 could have been more than handy.

  • RCB Live Score: 149/5 in 15.1 overs

Linde to bowl, Shepherd cuts hard for four, and it’s all over!

Royal Challenger Bengaluru wins by five wickets with 29 balls in hand, and moves to the top of the table!

  • RCB Live Score: 145/5 in 15 overs

Avesh returns, Shepherd defends. Guided to deep third for one. Full, David drives straight for one, target into single figures now. Slower ball, Shepherd reads it and belts it into the stands for another six! Driven straight to long-off for one.

David swings hiiiiighh into the air, Samad takes it on the boundary but relays the ball beyond Markram! David cuts hard....and Linde fumbles it into the boundary!

13 from the over, RCB 11 runs away now.

  • RCB Live Score: 123/5 in 13 overs

Prince Yadav returns, and Patidar makes it five boundaries in a row! Thrashed over extra-cover and it flies for six! BUT HE’S GONE NOW! On a length, and he smashed it high into the air with no distance. Digvesh takes the catch, and RCB loses another.

Rajat Patidar c Digvesh Rathi b Prince Yadav 27 (13b)

Tim David is next in at six. Off the mark with a single to mid-on. And another one gone! Jitesh looks to slog across the line, and edges it behind to the keeper! RCB is wobbling now!

Jitesh Sharma c Mukesh Choudhary b Prince Yadav 23 (9b)

Romario Shepherd is the new batter at seven. RCB just starting to struggle a bit now. Run-rate is not a problem but a few quick wickets could make this tough. Tucked into the leg-side for one.

  • RCB Live Score: 115/3 in 12 overs

Digvesh Rathi for his third, Patidar takes a single to long-on. Jitesh punches to cover’s left and the batters come back for two. Six! Beautiful shot from Jitesh, backs away and lofts over extra-cover, flies all the way for six. Four! Shorter, and Jitesh sweeps for four more. Much-needed runs. Six more! Best of the lot, over extra-cover again and nails it perfectly for a maximum. Ball-boy snaffles a handy catch.

Four again! Short and wide, Jitesh cuts, and suddenly RCB has taken some pressure off! 23 from the over.

  • RCB Live Score: 92/3 in 11 overs

Avesh is back, and he has Kohli first ball one shy of a half-century! Kohli looks to drive over long-on, and picks him out perfectly.

Virat Kohli c Nicholas Pooran b Avesh Khan 49 (34b)

Jitesh Sharma is in at five, not been in great nick this season. Defends to point first ball. Carved over the off-side for one to start his innings. Four! Lucky runs for Patidar, thick edge looking to cut and flies past short third for four. Single to end the over.

    Devdutt Padikkal c (sub)Himmat Singh b Avesh Khan 10(11) [4s-1]

Rajat Patidar is in at four. Oooooh just misses Patidar’s outside edge, good ball to start to the new batter. Patidar punches it off his backfoot to long on for a single.

That keep slightly low, Kohli tries to cut it but can only under edge it, dot ball. Change of pace from Avesh, Kohli guides it to deep point for a single. Tidy over from Avesh.

  • RCB Live Score: 65/1 in 7 overs

Digvesh Rathi is back into the attack. Kohli on strike. LSG were 35/1 at this stage. Kohli pulls it off his back foot to deep mid wicket for a single.

Padikkal cuts it to deep cover for a single. Carrom ball from Rathi, Kohli defends and wants the quick single but he’s sent back and ooohhhh Kohli dives and he’s safe. Better throw and it would have been close.

Kohli taps it on the off side for a quick single. Full from Rathi, Padikkal pulls it to deep backward square leg for a single.

Kohli guides it to long on for a single off his back foot.

  • RCB Live Score: 60/1 in 6 overs

Avesh Khan into the attack. Short and change of pace, Kohli slaps it to mid off, misfield and RCB take two, sloppy from LSG.

Short ball and that keeps slightly low, Kohli does well to adjust and pull it to deep square leg for a single.

Avesh comes around the wicket, Padikkal defends, dot ball. Padikkal taps it on the off side for a single.

Kohli hits it to cover and takes a quick single. Ooooh good change of pace from Avesh, outfoxes Padikkal who misses out on the pull, dot ball to finish. Advantage RCB after the PowerPlay.

  • RCB Live Score: 55/1 in five overs

Digvesh Rathi into the attack, spin is introduced. Starts with a short one, Padikkal pulls it to short square leg, small misfield and RCB sneak in a quick single.

  • RCB Live Score: 45/1 in 4 overs

Prince with his second, Kohli charges first ball and pulls it over mid wicket for FOUR! Oooh Kohli tries to pull that again but the ball passes under his bat, dot ball.

Lovely shot from Kohli, short from Prince and Kohli just times it over the 30 yard circle on the off side for FOUR! Good comeback from Prince, hard length outswinger, Kohli defends.

Short from Prince, and Kohli pulls it beyond short fine for another BOUNDARY! Wide down the leg side from Prince.

Kohli charges and lofts it over extra cover, and the ball pitches on the practice pitches and races away to the BOUNDARY! KOHLI OFF TO A FLYER! 17 off that over!

  • RCB Live Score: 13/1 in 2 overs

Prince Yadav into the attack, Kohli guides it to deep point for a single. Short from Prince, Salt pulls it to deep square leg region for two runs, doesn’t time that too well.

    Phil Salt b Prince Yadav 7(8) [4s-1]

Salt and no surprises, Kohli walk out to open the batting. Mukul Choudhary takes the gloves, not Pant, hmmm. Shami takes the new ball for LSG, Salt on strike. Slip in place.

Oooohhh swing and a miss from Salt to kick things off. Shami aims that to Salt’s body, who defends to square leg, dot ball.

Too easy for Salt, short and wide from Shami and Salt cuts it past cover for a BOUNDARY! Oooohh, another swing and a miss from Salt.

Salt times that nicely to extra cover for a single. Kohli on strike. Comedy of errors! Easy run out at the strikers end but there’s a misfield at covers, big opportunity goes wasted.

  • Second innings to begin soon

A below par effort with the bat from LSG to put it mildly but with that being said, its not the easiest batting conditions out there and the wicket is on the slower side. Can LSG’s bowlers, who have been in good form this season, make a match out of this? Second innings to begin shortly.

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru needs 147 to win

I’m not entirely sure what to make of that, to be honest. This is not a typical Chinnaswamy wicket, it’s on the slower side, and it showed in the way that Lucknow Super Giants approached that innings. It was cautious to start off, and lost wickets in a heap in the middle before Ayush Badoni and Mukul Choudhary added some late runs.

That said, the RCB bowlers were magnificent. Josh Hazlewood was back to his metronomic best, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Dar were equally good with ball in hand. Krunal and Suyash played their part as well, and RCB will be happy chasing 147.

That said, this will not be an easy chase, and RCB will hope Virat Kohli and Co. can get it over the line again. Stay with us for all the updates from the second innings.

  • LSG Live Score: 146 all out in 20 overs

Rasikh to close out, starts with the slower ball, and Mukul waits to smack it over long-on for six! Great start to the over for LSG. And he’s bowled him! Great comeback by Rasikh! Pace on in the blockhole, and Mukul misses it all ends up. Leg-stump goes flying!

    Mukul Choudhary b Rasikh Salam 39 (28b)

Digvesh Rathi is the final man in. Misses the slower ball to start. Another slower ball, Digvesh toe-ends it back to the bowler, who does well to stop it. Missed again, and the batters sneak a bye. Avesh looks to ramp...and he’s been nutmegged by the yorker that takes his off-stump!

    Avesh Khan b Rasikh Salam 1 (2b)

Lucknow Super Giants finishes its innings on 146 all out.

  • LSG Live Score: 139/8 in 19 overs

Bhuvneshwar to close out, Linde mistimes it straight but it lands short of a diving Shepherd at long-on. Perfect yorker is dug out for one by Mukul. Slower on a length outside off, Linde looks to cut and gets under it, up it goes....and David takes an excellent catch tracking back! Does the John Cena celebration for good measure to celebrate a lovely catch.

George Linde c Tim David b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 7 (7b)

Mohammed Shami is the new batter, and he’s back to the dugout! Inch-perfect yorker from Bhuvi, and splat go the stumps! Beautiful bowling!

    Mohammed Shami b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0 (1b)

Avesh Khan, perennial thorn in RCB sides, is the new man with Bhuvi on hat-trick....and he’s toe-ended it to long-on for one. Mukul takes a single to end the over, beautiful bowling by the veteran Bhuvneshwar.

  • LSG Live Score: 135/6 in 18 overs

Hazlewood to bowl his final over, starts with a wide down leg. Mukul hooks to leg for a quick two. Mukul drives with a straight bat to long-off for one. Linde drives straight to cover. Wow! Brilliant batting, reverse-ramped over the keeper for four by Linde. Great shot, welcome boundary. And now down the ground, not timed at all and he gets two.

Hurries Linde into a leg-bye, brilliant bowling by the big Aussie quick.

  • LSG Live Score: 124/6 in 17 overs

Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his third. Slower ball again, plinked to the edge of the ring for one. Dropped at short third! Pant looks to slice it fine and Suyash at short third can’t hang onto a diving chance. Mukul pulls the slower ball, and Padikkal runs around from long-on to save two.

Quicker bouncer, called wide. Perfect yorker from Bhuvi, Mukul digs it out for one. Pant swings to leg, and Salt has taken another screamer! What a grab diving forward at deep midwicket!

Rishabh Pant c Phil Salt b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1 (6b)

George Linde has been subbed in as the Impact Player, Badoni goes out. He’s a very handy batter. Defended back to Bhuvi to end the over.

  • LSG Live Score: 118/5 in 16 overs

Rasikh has two, Bhuvneshwar has two, and Hazlewood has one left. Rasikh will start the closing stages, and Badoni starts with four behind backward point! Single to deep cover. Goes short, and Mukul gets out of the way. Full toss flicked to deep fine.

Gone! Slower bouncer, Badoni looks to cut and gets a thin edge through to the keeper! Good bowling, but an impressive hand from Badoni as well, really well batted.

Ayush Badoni c Jitesh Sharma b Rasikh Salam 38 (24b)

Right, so does Pant bat again? Yes, he does. What level will he be at? Misses a wide yorker to start.

  • LSG Live Score: 112/4 in 15 overs

Suyash to close out now. Mukul punches straight for one. Badoni works the ball to leg for two again, he’s been very impressive today. Worked away, call is two more but Badoni runs into Suyash. Four! Shot! Mukul sweeps nicely and picks up four.

Chopped backward of square for one. Badoni cuts for one more, and ten comes from the over.

  • LSG Live Score: 102/4 in 14 overs

Krunal to bowl out, Mukul defends. Reaaallly slow, and Mukul nearly chips it back! Nearly a mixup now, Mukul sets off for a single that isn’t there, but turns back in time to make it back.

Another defence from Mukul. Six! What a way to break the shackles, slogged over cow corner for his first six of the night! Tucked into the leg-side for one.

  • LSG Live Score: 95/4 in 13 overs

One more for Suyash, who took some tap in the last over. Googly drifts in and hits Mukul’s pad, but it’s sliding. Oooh, skids through again, did that hit bat or pad? Bat is the answer. And again, hits the pad but too high. Mukul is getting beaten by the turn here.

For what it’s worth, Pant is padded up.

Ooh, Mukul sweeps and gets enough glove for it to run away for four. A little further outside off, and Mukul defends. Worked away to leg for one to end the over, five runs from the over.

  • LSG Live Score: 90/4 in 12 overs

Krunal again, slow through the air and Badoni pushes to deep cover for one. Gone! Krunal has another! Fired down leg, Samad looks to push to leg, gets a leading edge, and Patidar snaffles the catch at cover.

Abdul Samad c Rajat Patidar b Krunal Pandya 0 (2b)

Mukul Choudhary is the new batter. What a start! Gets down low and laps Krunal away for four! Beautiful batting. Quick single to leg to follow. Well played again by Badoni, dropped into the leg-side again for two, he’s playing a really nice hand here.

Slower from Krunal, and Badoni defends.

  • LSG Live Score: 82/3 in 11 overs

Suyash returns, and Badoni nails the cut for four! Lovely batting. Badoni nudges the ball to leg-side for two. Cut straight to backward point this time. Four more! Guided to the left of backward point for four more. Blocked to cover now. Single to long-on to end the over.

Bhuvneshwar is not in the field, he’s sitting in the dugout with an ice packet on his hand. Must be because of the Markram incident where the ball hit his hand hard. Oooohhh Pant tries to slash it all the way on the leg side but misses out, beaten.

Ouch! Hazlewood goes short and that hits Pant’s elbows. Pant tries to go again with the pull, zero timing, takes his under edge, dot ball.

The physio is out to check if Pant is okay after his hit. His body language is suggesting he’s in pain. And he’s walking off. Big blow for LSG this. Pant looks gutted and in serious pain.

Nicholas Pooran is in for LSG. Defends first ball. Four dot balls on the trot from Hazlewood. Pooran half minded about playing that but leaves it alone in the end. Just one run from that over.

  • First innings to begin soon

LSG will bat first, and it should be aiming for atleast a total of upwards of 200. RCB’s bowling lineup received a boost with the return of Josh Hazlewood, and will be looking to restrict LSG to under 200, which will all but ensure a definite victory.

This promises to be a mouthwatering clash. IPL fans, are you ready for another blockbuster night? Let’s get this started!

  • Lucknow Super Giants Impact Player options

Mayank Yadav, George Linde, M. Siddharth, Matthew Breetzke, Himmat Singh.

  • Lucknow Super Giants playing XI

Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary, Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan, Digvesh Rathi, Prince Yadav.

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru Impact Player options

Virat Kohli, Jordan Cox, Mangesh Yadav, Kanishk Chouhan, Venkatesh Iyer.

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru playing XI

Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Tim David, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Rasikh Dar, Josh Hazlewood.

  • RCB won the toss and opted to bowl

Rajat Patidar gives the coin a toss, Rishabh Pant calls heads, and RCB has won the toss and opted to bowl. Says it looks a good wicket, with not much grass on it. Everyone is performing well, he says. Josh Hazlewood returns in place of Jacob Duffy.

Pant says setting is ok. Says his group needs to come together and take ownership of its performances. Unchanged team for LSG.

  • How will LSG structure its attack?

LSG’s pace attack has impressed so far, and it is the only team yet to concede 200 in this tournament. It will be boosted by the return of Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan, who are both expected to be fit for this clash.

If the pair are to feature, it would mean that Avesh Khan and Prince Yadav could drop out of the team.

  • Will Josh Hazlewood play tonight?

Aussie quick Josh Hazlewood made his return to the IPL against Rajasthan Royals, but then sat out of its next match against Mumbai Indians.

The pacer is at the ground tonight, but it remains to be seen whether RCB will be able to call upon his services when it takes to the field tonight, and if it can, who will make way.

Jacob Duffy is the obvious candidate, but with Romario Shepherd having done little batting or bowling so far, an aggressive choice could be playing both pacers.

  • Bengaluru weather update

We’ve had a fair few games interrupted by inclement weather already this season, but the forecast in Bengaluru is clear for today.

  • LSG probable playing XII

Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary, George Linde, Mohammed Shami, Digvesh Rathi, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav

  • RCB probable playing XII

Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Tim David, Jitesh Sharma, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Suyash Sharma, Rasikh Dar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jacob Duffy

  • Potential match ups

Shami vs Kohli will be one to watch out for. The LSG pacer has dismissed Kohli five times in 12 innings. Krunal vs Pooran will be another exciting face off, as well as Rajat Patidar against LSG’s pacers.

  • Can LSG's batting click and go big?

LSG are the only team yet to score a 200 plus total, a surprising stat considering the Lucknow based team possesses one of the most destructive batting lineups in the competition.

LSG’s failure to do so can be attributed to the shortage of runs from its top order, comprising of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, and Nicholas Pooran.

And they face RCB tonight at Chinnaswamy, a ground where scoring anything less than 200 is simply not good enough.

Can LSG’s batters utilise the batting friendly surface and short boundaries and find some form tonight?

  • Kohli fit and available

Virat Kohli did not take the field in the second innings in RCB’s last match against MI due to a suspected ankle issue.

No cause for any concern from an RCB point of view though, because Kohli has fully recovered from whatever was troubling him and he is expected to open the batting tonight as usual.

Kohli will also be looking to make up for his last innings with the bat- he scored a half century alright, but it was far from his best innings- he could not find the fluency and high strike rate that his batting partners were operating at.

Kohli was visibly frustrated with how he batted when he was dismissed, and he will be looking to make amends against LSG tonight.

  • LSG squad

Rishabh Pant (C), Aiden Markram, Himmat Singh, Matthew Breetzke, Mukul Choudhary, Akshat Raghuwanshi, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahamad, Arshin Kulkarni, Wanindu Hasaranga, Ayush Badoni, Mohammad Shami, Avesh Khan, M. Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, Akash Singh, Prince Yadav, Arjun Tendulkar, Anrich Nortje, Naman Tiwari, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan

  • RCB squad

Rajat Patidar (c), Tim David, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Philip Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Jacob Bethell, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Abhinandan Singh, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Swapnil Singh, Nuwan Thushara, Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Duffy, Jordan Cox, Vicky Ostwal, Vihaan Malhotra, Kanishk Chouhan, Mangesh Yadav, Satvik Deswal

  • Context of the points table

RCB currently find itself in third place in the points table from six points from four matches, while LSG are reeling in seventh place with four points from four matches.

But IPL being the closely contested league that it is, the competition is neck tight as always and if LSG manage to secure a victory against RCB tonight, it will draw level on points with the home side from the same number of matches.

A victory will push LSG to 5th place in the points table, while a victory for RCB will propel it to the top of the table.

  • Mayank boost for LSG

At long last, Mayank Yadav is fit and ready to go for LSG. Team director Tom Moody confirmed the news about his availability yesterday and for all intents and purposes, its likely that LSG will unleash his pace against RCB tonight.

Mayank will be raring to go after spending nearly two seasons on the sidelines and repay the faith the team management has shown in him despite his recurring injury concerns.

  • RCB vs LSG- a new age rivalry

Like MI vs CSK or CSK vs RCB, RCB vs LSG has become one of the most anticipated rivalries in the IPL in recent years.

Almost every match between the two teams has produced moments of high drama and exceptional displays with both the bat and the ball. It was against LSG that Rajat Patidar scored that century in the eliminator in 2022, which helped his IPL career take off.

And who can forget the last ball thriller at the Chinnaswamy in 2023 when Harshal Patel tried to mankad Avesh Khan in the non strikers end and LSG stole the win in the end?

And Virat Kohli’s confrontation with Naveen ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir in the reverse fixture? Expect another high intense game between the two sides tonight.

  • H2H record

RCB holds the edge in the head to head record. The two sides have faced each other six times in the past, out of which RCB has won four times and LSG two times.

  • LSG's record at the Chinnaswamy

RCB holds the edge in the head to head record but LSG are unbeaten at Chinnaswamy, a record the visitor will be looking to improve against the home side tonight.

With that being said, the last time RCB and LSG met at the Chinnaswamy, the makeup of RCB’s squad was entirely different, a squad that did not possess the strengths and the consistency of the present squad.

Moreover, given the current form of the two sides, RCB holds the upper hand going into tonight’s game.

  • Last time out

RCB came out on top the last time the two sides faced off against each other in a high scoring encounter.

The two sides met only once last year, at the Ekana Stadium.

Batting first, LSG posted a mammoth 227/3 in 20 overs powered by Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 118. However, RCB chased down the total with relative ease thanks to an equally impressive unbeaten 85 from Jitesh Sharma off just 33 balls.

While the result of the game did not make a difference to LSG as it was already out of the reckoning for the playoffs by that point of time, the victory propelled RCB to the top two.

It was an important result, which in retrospective, made RCB’s path to its maiden title a lot more straightforward.
