Mercedes driver George Russell successfully crossed the line at the Redbull Ring in Austria to win the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The last time he won a race was at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix.
Russell raced ahead of Max Verstappen, who crossed to take P2 following a “rather lonely” P5 at Barcelona. Russell’s teammate and leader of the points table Kimi Antonelli completed the podium taking P3, following a DNF at the Barcelona Grand Prix.
Verstappen’s teammate Isack Hadjar, meanwhile, took P6 following a stellar defence against the Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Oscar Piastri secured P4 for Mclaren, while for both drivers over at Ferrari, a few strategic mishaps and wheel-to-wheel driving led to Lewis Hamilton finished fifth and Leclerc finishing in eigth.
Reigning World Championship winner Lando Norris had to settle for P7 following a lack of pace during the overall race. The Racing Bulls finish out the top 10 with both drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad at P9 and P10 respectively.
