TN player wins all 3 golds in Commonwealth C’ships
Candidates Master (CM) Tamizh Amudhan S completed a memorable campaign at the Commonwealth Youth Chess Championship 2026 in Kalutara, Sri Lanka, winning gold in all three formats in the Under-10 Open category.
The eight-year-old finished first in the standard, rapid and blitz sections, giving India a clean sweep of gold medals through one player in the category.
In the standard event, Tamizh scored 8.5 points from nine rounds to top the table before adding the rapid and blitz titles.
The result is another important step in the young player’s progress. Tamizh, who is still in the Under-9 age bracket, has already won five Asian medals for India and crossed the 2000 Elo rating mark at a young age. Earlier this month, he also made headlines after beating German Grandmaster Vincent Keymer, World No 7, in an online blitz game.

Saptak Talwar finishes T-40 in Denmark
Indian golfer Saptak Talwar followed up two indifferent rounds in the middle with a strong final round to finish at T-40 at the Danish Golf Challenge.
He carded 4-under 68 to take his total score for the week to 8-under par (67-70-75-68).
Talwar, who finished second at the DP World PGTI Open, an event co-sanctioned between the PGTI Tour and the DP World Tour, is now 21st on the Road to Mallorca Standings, from which 15 cards are available for 2026 DP World Tour.
Talwar, who leads the PGTI Order of Merit, can also go to the DP World Tour, in case he wins the PGTI Order of Merit, like Yuvraj Sandhu did in 2025.
Talwar made six birdies and two bogeys in his final round of the week. He began the round with a bogey before making three consecutive birdies and a fourth birdie on the eighth hole to be 3-under par for the day at the turn.
On the back nine, he picked up shots on the 11th and 14th holes before dropping a shot on the 15th hole and closed the round at 4-under par.

Sandhu finishes T-63 at Soudal Open
Indian golfer Yuvraj Sandhu endured a difficult final day to finish T-63 at the Soudal Open.
The 29-year-old is playing his debut season on the DP World Tour. Sandhu carded his only over par round of 73 on the final day and finished with a score of 5-under par with rounds of 70-68-68-73.
The other Indian in the field this week was Shubhankar Sharma, who missed the cut for the third successive start. He last made the cut at the Turkish Airlines Open back in March.
Sandhu struggled in his final round of the week as he saw a pair of bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes and another on the 13th hole before making his only birdie of the day on the 15th.
This saw him card a final round of 2-over 73 to drop down more than 30 places from T-32 to T-63. Sandhu’s second and third day performance had set the Indian up for a strong finish but he failed to keep up the momentum.
