Canada and Switzerland will be hoping to seal their spots in the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 32 when they clash at BC Place Vancouver, on Wednesday.
Both teams have four points from their first two games with co-host Canada holding the top spot due to better goal difference.
A draw could be enough for both teams to qualify, as the other two teams in the group - Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar can only reach a maximum of four points after their match at the same time.
The Switzerland vs Canada FIFA World Cup Group B match will be officiated by Brazilian referee Ramon Abatti. He made his first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in the Group G match between Belgium and Egypt earlier this month.
He primarily works in the Brazilian top tier and made his debut on September 13, 2020. Recognising his officiating standards, he was elevated to FIFA-listed referee status in 2023.
He has taken charge of matches in the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, and South American World Cup qualifications. Additionally, his expertise has been utilised globally, leading him to referee matches in the UAE Pro League, the Saudi Pro League, the Under-20 World Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
After overseeing 314 games so far in his career, Abatti has handed out 1457 yellow cards (including 17 second yellows) and 62 red cards.
