Amad Diallo’s late winner proved to be difference between the two sides as Ivory Coast edged out Ecuador in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group E encounter at the Philadelphia Stadium on Monday.
The game looked to be heading towards a goalless stalemate until Amad’s first-time finish into the bottom left corner following a cross in from Wilfried Singo after a marauding run down the right.
Ecuador did have its chance to find the net in the first half but its attackers hit the woodwork twice. The Elephants grew into the game in the second half and eventually found the clinching goal in the 90th minute to take home all three points.
