Brazil winger Raphinha has said he will do everything possible to return quickly from injury after suffering a setback during the FIFA World Cup.
The 29-year-old was forced off during Brazil’s win over Haiti after feeling tightness in his right leg. Subsequent medical tests confirmed a muscle injury in his right thigh, leaving his participation in the rest of the tournament uncertain.
Raphinha had played an important role for Brazil in its matches against Morocco and Haiti, making the timing of the injury a difficult blow for the side ahead of its fixture against Scotland on Wednesday, with qualification for the round of 32 still at stake.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), however, confirmed that Raphinha will remain with the squad while continuing his recovery programme.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Raphinha shared pictures from his early days with the national team and reflected on his childhood dream of playing for Brazil.

“I chose this photo first because it reminds me of where it all began,” he wrote, as quoted by Goal.com. “The boy who dreamed of wearing the Brazilian national team jersey is still here.”
Raphinha added that his commitment to the team and the shirt had not changed despite the injury.
“I love football, I love what I do, and I love wearing the Brazilian national team jersey,” he said. “I will do everything in my power to recover and return as quickly as possible.”
The winger also said he wants to stay beside his teammates and continue supporting Brazil’s campaign.
