Yoane Wissa struck DR Congo’s first FIFA World Cup goal as his team put up an inspiring defensive show to hold heavyweight Portugal to a 1-1 draw in their Group K match in Houston.

Selecao das Quinas needed just six minutes to get on the scoresheet. Pedro Neto put a cross into the box from the left wing to which Joao Neves reached and headed into the net.

Cristiano Ronaldo could not do much to change the course of the match. He struggled particularly in the first half and registered just 16 touches, only the Portuguese keeper had fewer touches.

Wissa then found the top left corner in the injury time of the first half to restore parity and send his team and the Congo fans into jubilation.

Joao Cancelo struck a bicycle kick in the second half and scored but the goal was ruled offside.
