Karim Benzema continued to win trophies in Saudi Arabia as his side, Al Hilal, lifted the Saudi King’s Cup on Friday, beating Al Kholood 2-1 in the final.
Theo Hernandez scored deep into first-half stoppage time as Al Hilal earned the bragging rights, while its coach Simone Inzaghi won first trophy with the club.
Al Kholood took an early lead through Ramiro Enrique, the Argentine striker firing in from close range in the fourth minute after rounding goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
Al Hilal drew level just before the interval when Nasser Al-Dawsari struck in the 42nd minute, before Hernandez arrived at the far post moments later to complete the turnaround.
It was another major trophy in Saudi football for former France striker Karim Benzema, who has continued to secure silverware at 38 years of age. He had also won the last edition of the tournament, though in different colours.
