Paraguay and Australia will look to book their berths in the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 32 when they face off in both teams’ final Group D fixture on Thursday.
Both nations have recorded one win and one loss so far, with a win for either side enough to help them advance.
If the match ends in a draw, Australia will go through due to better goal difference, while Paraguay will be in a good position to advance as one of the best eight third-placed teams.
The Paraguay vs Australia FIFA World Cup Group D match will be officiated by Frenchman Clement Turpin.
Turpin is one of the most experienced referees of the tournament, having made his debut in August 2006 in the French third division. The 44-year-old has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2010 and a UEFA Elite group referee since 2012.
This will be Turpin’s third FIFA World Cup, taking charge of two group games in the 2018 edition and three games in the 2022 edition. He regularly officiates Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League games.
Throughout his career, Turpin has taken charge of 673 matches, awarding 2200 yellow cards (including 47 second yellows) and 131 red cards.
