Indian rider Kavin Quintal impresses in Spain
Indian motorcycle racer Kavin Quintal made an impressive start to his 2026 Copa de España de Velocidad campaign by securing two podium finishes in the opening round.
The Chennai rider, who turned 21 last month, competing for BMW easyRace Team, finished second in Race 1, astride a BMW M1000RR on Saturday, in a highly-competitive grid of 33 riders. He followed it up with a third-place finish in Race 2 on Sunday, also in the Superbike 1000cc category.
Kavin, who created history in 2024 as the first Indian to compete in the Supersport 300 World championship at the WorldSBK races in Czech Republic, qualified second fastest on the grid, and narrowly missed victory in the opening race.
He finished just 0.605 seconds behind Spain’s Juan Maria Zarza and maintained his strong form in the second race to claim a third place.
The Indian ace joined the Spanish EasyRace Team in April after impressing the outfit during a wildcard appearance last year, when he finished fourth on his superbike debut.

Eleven-year-old Atiqa Mir reinforced her status as India’s leading racer on the world stage with the most dominant performance of her career in Round 2 of the Champions of the Future Academy Program, making a clean sweep of qualifying, heat races and the finals.
Atiqa, the first Indian to be supported by the Formula 1 Academy, set the benchmark in a highly competitive field in the OK-NJ category (age 12-14). It is remarkable what she has managed to achieve in her first season in this category, giving the more experienced drivers (mostly male) a hard time on the track.
Be it the qualifying, heats or the two finals, Atiqa was in a league of her own throughout the weekend. With her sensational show, she became only the third driver to in the series’ history to sweep the qualifying, heats and finals.
“I was surprised by her pace, aggression and professional approach all weekend. She was every upset from Day 1 after the crash in the Final. I think that drove her to give such a commanding performance. A proud moment for Indian Motorsport,” said her father, Asif Mir.
