India’s recurve and compound squads for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, across both men’s and women’s categories, have been finalised following the selection trials held at the Sports Authority of India’s National Centres of Excellence in Sonipat, Haryana.

Seasoned recurve archers Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das, a silver medallist at the 2023 Hangzhou Asiad, narrowly missed out after finishing just outside the top three. Dhiraj Bommadevara and Kirti Sharma emerged as the standout performers in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

In the men’s compound event, Sahil Rajesh Jadhav topped the standings, with Kushal Dalal and Ganesh Thiru Muru securing the remaining spots. The top three archers in each category qualified for the quadrennial event. Rishabh Yadav, Ojas Pravin Deotale and Abhishek Verma are among the prominent names who failed to make the cut.

While the men’s compound squad features significant changes, the women’s category continues to be led by Jyothi Surekha Vennam. India’s most dependable compound archer, she once again topped the qualification standings and will be joined by Taniparthi Chikitha and Prithika Pradeep.

With the top four from the selection trials qualifying for World Cup (Stage 3 & 4) to be held in Antalya, Turkiye and Madrid, Spain respectively, the Asian Games contingent will be joined by Atanu (Recurve Men), Deepika (Recurve Women), Rishab (Compound Men) and Parneet Kaur (Compound Women).
