Aryan Nehra smashed his two-year-old men’s 1500m freestyle record to rewrite the ‘best Indian time’ and win the gold medal at the National aquatics championships in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Nehra, who is training in France, clocked 15:14.88 to improve upon his 2023 record of 15:29.76 set in Hyderabad. He qualified for the Commonwealth Games but missed the Asian Games qualifying mark by microseconds.
Second placed Dharshan S. timed 15:38.00.

Tamil Nadu won the men’s 4x100m medley relay with a new mark, 3:44.74.

Women: 100m freestyle: Dhinidhi Desinghu (Kar) 56.57 (NMR, Old 56.78, Dhinidhi Desinghu, 2025); 400m freestyle: Aditi Hegde (Mah) 4:25.31; 200m backstroke: Pratyasa Ray (Odi) 2:20.22.
