Switzerland beat Canada 2-1 in a thrilling Group B encounter at BC Vancouver Stadium in Vancouver on Wednesday to clinch top spot in the standings.
All three goals came in the second period with Ruben Vargas and Johan Manzambi striking early in the 46th and 57th minute. Canada pulled one back via Promise David in the 76th minute to put the pressure on the Swiss in the final quarter of the game.
With the top spot on the line, Canada came close in the final minute of stoppage time when Alistair Johnston sent his header from close range into the hands of Gregor Kobel.
