Spain will look for its first win in the FIFA World Cup 2026, facing Saudi Arabia in its second group-stage match in the tournament, in Atlanta on Sunday.
It was held to a goalless draw against World Cup debutant Cape Verde as the European champion started the quardennial contest on a mellow note.
However, one player that is missing from Spain’s matchday squad against Saudi Arabia is its fourth-highest goalscorer, Alvaro Morata.
Alvaro Morata is not playing in Spain vs Saudi Arabia at the FIFA World Cup 2026 because he is not in the matchday squad, primarily because of his lack of goal-scoring form.
The 33-year-old last played for Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, playing 17 minutes against Turkey in September 2025. However, the last time he scored for Las Roja was back in 2024, against Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.
In the final of the Nations League, he missed the decisive penalty against Portugal as the Cristiano Ronaldo-led side dethroned Spain.
