The second round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will begin in Los Angeles when co-host Canada takes on South Africa on Sunday.
The Bafana Bafana ended a 16-year wait, returning to the tournament as an underdog, and beat South Korea to secure its spot in the final 32. Canada, on the other hand, romped to a 6-0 win over Qatar after a 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina to enter the second round.
Though Canada enters this contest as a favourite, the last time the two teams met, it was South Africa which had the last laugh with a 2-0 win, courtesy of a brace by Teko Modise in 2007.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 32 match between South Africa and Canada will be played at the SoFi Stadium, also known as the Los Angeles Stadium, in Los Angeles, USA.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 12 noon on June 28 as per local time (12:30 am IST, June 29).
