Aryaveer shines in China
Aryaveer Dewan became only the fourth Indian male to emerge the Asian boys’ Under-19 champion as he clinched the coveted crown at the 33rd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships in Panzhihua, China.
Aryaveer, seeded 3/4, beat South Korea’s Jonghyeok Lee, seeded 5/8, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9 in just under an hour in the final, as India returned with one gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
Delhi boy Aryaveer had won the boys’ U-17 title in this competition last year.
“Truly a magnificent achievement from Aryaveer winning back-to-back titles. This will give him immense confidence going into the World Junior Championships in two months,” said SRFI secretary-general Cyrus Poncha.
Shiven Agarwal (boys’ U-17), Anika Dubey (girls’ U-17) and Amarya Bajaj (boys’ U-13) finished runner-up in their respective categories.
India’s medallists are — Gold: Aryaveer Dewan (boys’ U-19); Silver: Shiven Agarwal (boys’ U-17), Anika Dubey (girls’ U-17), Amarya Bajaj (boys’ U-13); Bronze: Lokesh Subramani (boys’ U-17), Abhyuday Arora (boys’ U-13), Shanaya Parasrampuria (girls’ U-13), Divyanshi Jain (girls’ U-13).

Pranavi slips to Tied-17th as Diksha finishes Tied-20th in Morocco
Pranavi Urs stumbled on the final day to finish T17, while Diksha Dagar was T20 at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Rabat, Morocco.
Pranavi finished the week with a total score of four-under par (70-71-74) while Diksha finished with a score of three-under par (75-70-71). Pranavi, the lead Indian all week, had a great start as she was in tied-second after the first round and still in the Top-10 after two days.
She had above par card of the week at one-over 74 and slipped down the order to finish at T-17 .That prevented her from securing her first top 10 finish since the Hero Women’s Indian Open last year.
Diksha had a difficult start to the week before she found form, and a final round of two-under 71 saw her move up to T-20 at the end of the final round.
Earlier, Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi missed the cut.

Saptak Talwar drops to Tied-56th in Denmark
After two fine rounds, India’s Saptak Talwar faltered in the third, carding a three-over 75 to drop down to Tied-56th at the Danish Golf Challenge.
Talwar, who shot 67-70 on the first two days, is now 5-under for 54 holes.
The Indian order of Merit leader at home had just one birdie against four bogeys. Arjun Prasad, the other Indian in the field, had missed the cut.

Sandhu shoots 68, lies Tied-33rd in Belgium[
Yuvraj Sandhu shot a second straight three-under 68 to be placed Tied-33rd at the end of the third round at the Soudal Open on the DP World Tour.
Sandhu, with rounds of 70-68-68, is now seven-under as he slipped down one place.
Earlier, Shubhankar Sharma missed the halfway cut.

Tanvi Patri signs off with runner-up finish at Austrian Open
Young Indian shuttler Tanvi Patri signed off with a runner-up finish at the USD 10,000 Austrian Open International Series after going down in straight games to Canada’s Rachel Chan in the women’s singles final in Graz on Sunday.
Patri, a rising badminton talent from Odisha, lost 14-21 17-21 to the top-seeded Canadian at the Raiffeisen Sportpark in Austria’s second-largest city.
A trainee at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, Patri enjoyed an impressive run to the final, defeating eighth seed Ranithma Liyanage, Malaysia’s Oo Shan Zi, second seed Ozge Bayrak of Turkey and third seed Peng Yu Wei.
In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Sathish Karunakaran and Zenith Abbigail also ended runners-up after losing 21-19 13-21 20-22 to seventh-seeded Germans Jan Colin Voelker and Emma Moszczynski in the final.

Mandaviya inaugurates integrated sports infrastructure facility at SAI NCoE
Sports minster Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday inaugurated several new sports infrastructure facilities at SAI NCoE Gandhinagar, reaffirming the government’s commitment towards building world-class high-performance sporting ecosystems across the country.
The minister inaugurated the newly developed Para Athlete Hostel, Centralized Dining Hall, Strength & Conditioning Hall, Multipurpose Training Hall and Meditation Park at the centre.
The facilities have been developed to strengthen athlete preparation through integrated support in training, recovery, nutrition, sports science and mental wellbeing.
“Our record performances in recent international events are not accidental achievements. They are the result of sustained investment in athletes, scientific training, modern infrastructure and a strong belief that India can become a global sporting powerhouse,” Mandaviya was quoted as saying in a PIB release.

All India Masters: Soham beats higher ranked Shardul
Youngster Soham Sudarshan Sahamate defeated Shardul Kadam Aditya in a hard-fought second round classical encounter at the All India Chess Masters – Season 4 in Mumbai.
Playing with the white pieces, Soham handled the game confidently from the opening and gradually built pressure in the middlegame through active coordination of his pieces.
The game remained balanced for a long duration, but the turning point came during the middlegame transition when Soham seized the initiative and forced his opponent into a difficult defensive position.
The youngster maintained excellent composure in the endgame and converted his advantage accurately after an intense 60-move battle.
In some of the other games, Shreyansh Somaiya beat Naina Choksi while Reyaansh Venkat overcame Vardaan Agrawal to remain among the leaders.
Gaurang Bhandari won against Mayan S Jha and Kush Ajay Agarwal defeated Shravya Gavand in another notable encounter.
