Germany’s penalty call was overturned after a Video Assistant Referral (VAR) in its Group E FIFA World Cup encounter against Ecuador at the New York/New Jersey Stadium on Thursday.
In the early stage of the second half, the match referee Tori Penso had initially calledfoul against Ecuador Joel Ordóñez for a foul on Kai Havertz and pointed to the penalty spot.
But upon a VAR referral, it was pointed out that Pedro Vite was fouled in the build-up by Leroy Sane.
