The referees will be wearing a special pink kit for the Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay FIFA World Cup 2026 match at the Seattle Stadium on Monday.
The game will be helmed by Italian referee Maurizio Mariani who will be officiating at the quadrennial event for this first time.
Why are the referees wearing a pink jersey?
The match officials for the Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay encounter will wear pink jersey as a tribute to the host city Miami.
“Officials will honour their host city by wearing pink flamingo jerseys for Uruguay vs Saudi Arabia on Monday, 15 June — a nod to the flamingos, the Art Deco architecture, and those famous Miami sunsets that make the colour iconic here,” an official statement from FIFA said.
