And there goes the final whistle!
Zimbabwe finishes third thanks to a first-half penalty from Prince Dube. For India, it is back to the drawing board yet again as its Unity Cup 2026 campaign ends with two losses in two.
India had its moments in the second half but never looked like it could get anything from the game, and it will be concerned about how its main source of chances currently is from long throws.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe utilised its subs well to see the game out, while India’s options from the bench like Jeakson and Edmund failed to make any real impact.
90+3' ZIM 1-0 IND
It’s now or never for India. But the Zimbabwe players are managing the game extremely well, moving the ball around while the opposition players frantically run around the pitch.

This looks promising from India as Sanan plays Akash through on the left.
His first-time cross with his left boot looks good, and Macarton is there, but the midfielder should have done better to keep his header on target.
75' ZIM 1-0 IND | Substitution
India: Chhangte is replaced by Sanan.
73' ZIM 1-0 IND
Chirewa has looked very lively since coming on, and he produces some silky footwork to get past two players in India’s box.
However, he ends up taking a touch too many and runs into bodies that frantically clear the ball away from danger.
72' ZIM 1-0 IND
Play resumes.
70' ZIM 1-0 IND

Second half begins!
India kicks off the second half, shooting from left to right.
Zimbabwe: Garananga is replaced by Mauchi.
No changes for India at the break!
Another disappointing half for the Blue Tigers!
Defensive stability could have been a positive takeaway for Khalid Jamil from the first half against Zimbabwe, but a silly penalty conceded has put an end to that notion.
Despite starting with Chhangte and Vikram on either side of Rahim Ali, India has failed to record a single shot on target so far. Akash Mishra and Nikhil Poojary’s promotion to wider positions in midfield has failed to produce any dividends, as most of the crosses are being played directly from the backline of Jhingan, Bheke and Ricky.
Zimbabwe, meanwhile, has largely outplayed its opponent, with leftback Shane Maroordza its brightest player on the pitch, playing a part in winning the penalty.
Prince Dube made full use of the chance and sent Gurpreet the wrong way to give his side the lead, which it was comfortable holding onto until the half-time whistle.
45+2' ZIM 1-0 IND

40' ZIM 1-0 IND
Zimbabwe can sense the cracks opening up in the opposition as Munetsi finds himself in space on the right wing.
He picks out Tshuma in the middle, but his first-time attempt goes straight at Gurpreet who makes an easy save.
37' ZIM 1-0 IND
The Indian players seem clueless about what to do in possession, as the backline plays numerous crosses out front, which the wingers are struggling to bring under control.
35' ZIM 1-0 IND
Zimbabwe now has an opportunity to double its lead from a freekick, and Maroodza dinks it into the box where Takwara is inches away from meeting the ball with his head.
33' ZIM 1-0 IND | GOAALL!

Dube steps up to take the penalty for Zimbabwe and coolly slots it into the bottom right corner to take the lead.

29' ZIM 0-0 IND
Ricky is trying to make things happen as he plays a good ball over the top to Vikram on the left wing. He looks like he will go through on goal, but Zimbabwe captain Takwara comes in with a perfectly timed sliding challenge to nick the ball away.
27' ZIM 0-0 IND
Both coaches are seen animatedly sharing instructions with the players. Will the game finally find a spark after an uneventful start?

Now it’s Zimbabwe’s turn to use the long throw-in, but the towering figure of Sandesh Jhingan ensures that no opposition player gets a free sight of the goal.
22' ZIM 0-0 IND
India gets a throw-in on the left side of the Zimbabwe box, and here comes Rahul Bheke with his cannon arms.
He launches the ball into the box, where the Zimbabwe players are alert enough to stop it from reaching an opposition head.
20' ZIM 0-0 IND
It’s 2 vs 3 as Vikram drives with the ball for India. Despite having Rahim as an option in front of him, Vikram decides to cut to his right and switch play to Chhangte.
However, his cross is too heavy as the ball bounces far away from Chhangte before going out for a goal kick.
17' ZIM 0-0 IND
Ricky is lucky to escape without a card as he brings down Munetsi in the middle of the pitch with a late challenge while he was trying to break away on a counter.
15' ZIM 0-0 IND
Zimbabwe fullback Shane finds himself on the ball on the left side of the Indian box. He whips it into the middle, where Jhingan positions himself well to head it away for a throw-in.
13' ZIM 0-0 IND
It has been evenly matched in the opening minutes of this game, with Zimbabwe slightly edging India in terms of control.
11' ZIM 0-0 IND
Promising from Zimbabwe, as Navaya is found out front by a pass from his defence line.
The flag has stayed down, and he dribbles his way into the box, but he cannot find a final pass as Gurpreet collects the ball with ease.
9' ZIM 0-0 IND
Looks like Khalid Jamil is putting his trust in Jhingan, Ricky and Bheke to hold the back line while Nikhil and Akash take up wider positions in midfield.
Will his attacking shape pay off? Stay tuned and find out.
6' ZIM 0-0 IND
India has won a corner, and Farukh plays it short to Chhangte, who curls the ball into the middle. A handful of Indian players get swipes at the ball, but nothing fruitful can be produced.
Jamaica manages to finally clear the ball away, and Dube goes through on goal. However, Nikhil Poojary does well to track back and hold Dube off before winning a freekick for India.
4' ZIM 0-0 IND
Zimbabwe is looking threatening as Ricky is caught out of position at left back. Tshuma gets on the ball and whips in a cross into the middle, and Jhingan is forced to step into action and stick out a leg to clear the ball away from danger.
2' ZIM 0-0 IND
A lovely ball over the top is played into the path of Vikram on the left and he brings it down well but fails to produce something off it as he blasts the ball straight out for a goal kick while attempting a cross.
1' ZIM 0-0 IND
Looks like Rahim Ali is taking up the central role with Vikram on his left while Chhangte assumes his preferred position on the lright wing.
Kick off!
Zimbabwe kicks off the match, shooting from left to right on a sunny day in Southeast London.
Match starts soon!
The players are making their way into the stadium. The national anthems of both teams are played, with India’s first, followed by Zimbabwe’s.

Zimbabwe starting XI
Tavaziva (gk), Jalai, Maroodza, Mthunzi, Garananga, Takwara, Moffat, Munetsi, Tshuma, Dube, Navaya
High stakes!
Though the Unity Cup falls outside the official FIFA window, it has a Tier 1 status, meaning every match in the tournament bears ranking points equivalent to games in the official window.
Can India's fullbacks step up?
Khalid Jamil has named only two pure midfielders in the starting lineup with Macarton and Ricky Shabong, which could leave a lot of the width to be held by the two fullbacks, Nikhil Poojary and Akash Mishra.
The duo will have to act as the link-up between the backline and attack, which will be severely missing the services of Ryan Williams after he picked up an injury against Jamaica.
India starting XI
Gurpreet (gk), Bheke, Jhingan, Akash, Nikhil, Macarton, Ricky, Farukh, Rahim, Chhangte, Vikram
