The Mexican Football Federation named its country’s 55-man preliminary squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which it will co-host with the United States of America and Canada next month.

Head coach Javier Aguirre will have the task of trimming the squad to 26 by June 1 after its two friendlies against Ghana (May 22) and Australia (May 30). El Tri will have another friendly against Serbia on June 4 before its tournament opener on June 11.

Mexico is placed in Group A and will begin its campaign against South Africa before facing South Korea and Czechia.

Veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who is named in the preliminary group, is aiming to make it to his sixth World Cup.
