Spain teenager Lamine Yamal scored his first FIFA World Cup goal during Spain’s Group H match against Saudi Arabia at the Atlanta Stadium on Sunday.

After a frustrating 0-0 draw against Cape Verde, the goal gave much needed impetus to the European champion side as it bids for a second FIFA World Cup title.

Yamal was the second-youngest scorer for Spain at the FIFA World Cup at 18 years and 343 days, sitting behind his Barcelona teammate Gavi, who struck a goal at 18 years and 110 days old.

However, Yamal managed to improve on the record of Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. The Argetine was 18 years and 357 days old when he had scored his first FIFA World Cup goal against Serbia and Montenegro during the 2006 World Cup.
