Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the fastest Indian to score 1000 IPL runs after hitting a half-century in IPL history against Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2 match in Mullanpur on Friday.
Sooryavanshi reached the feat in 23 matches, taking just two more matches than Shaun Marsh, who currently holds the record for the fewest number of matches taken to score 1000 IPL runs.
Sooryavanshi is joint second on the list with West Indian Lendl Simmons, who also took the same number of matches to achieve the feat.
Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan, who took 25 matches to hit 1000 IPL runs, was the previous fastest Indian.
