Switzerland’s FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign will begin when it faces Qatar at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in San Francisco on Saturday, June 13.
Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka and full-back Ricardo Rodriguez have both been named in the Switzerland starting XI. In featuring, both will make a record 13th World Cup appearance for their country.
Xhaka made his maiden international tournament appearance for Switzerland at the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil, and has appeared in every tournament since. He currently plays his club football for Premier League side Sunderland.
Rodriguez — who plays for Real Betis — has appeared in every tournament alongside Xhaka.
