Egypt took the lead in its FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G encounter against Belgium thanks to a long-range effort from midfielder Emam Ashour.
The midfielder received the ball at the edge of the box and let fly a strike towards the bottom left corner past a diving Thibaut Courtois.
The 28-year-old currently plays for Egyptian side Al Ahly with who he has won one Egyptian cup and a CAF Champions League title.
Ashour broke through at El Mahalla in his native country before getting a move to Zamalek. The winger moved to Danish side FC Midtjylland in January 2023 but returned to join Al Ahly just six months later.
He has been capped 30 times by the Egypt national team. His goal today was his first for the Pharaohs.
